Course Overview
This three-day instructor-led course provides students with the
knowledge and skills to implement System Center Operations Manager 2007
management packs and customize them. The course focuses on understanding
how management packs are implemented, the contents of specific
management packs including the Operations Manager 2007 management pack,
the Windows Server management packs, Active Directory management packs,
and Exchange 2007 management pack. It also introduces the tools
available for cross-platform monitoring.
Objectives
After completing this course, students will be able to:
Describe the various objects within a management pack.
Identify requirements for implementing common management packs.
Adjust settings provided by common management packs for more effective
monitoring of their environment.
Identify best practices associated with tuning management packs.
Audience
This course is intended for system administrators who will be
responsible for day-to-day monitoring using Operations Manager 2007 and
will be required to adjust the settings of commonly available management
packs to better monitor their environment.
Prerequisites
Before attending this course, students must have:
At least one year's experience in supporting a Windows Server 2003
environment.
Exposure to Windows Server 2008.
Experience in supporting and troubleshooting Active Directory Directory
Services.
Experience in supporting and troubleshooting Exchange 2007.

This module provides an overview of Operations Manager 2007 's
health-based monitoring environment. It will describe the features of
Operations Manager, identify the core components used in the monitoring
environment, and review the security aspects.
